Clarence Gunn - President
Greetings and Welcome to Democrats for Diversity and Inclusion (DDI) 2023!
This upgraded DDI website is but the first of the multiple manifestations of the change coming this year in DDI. DDI is committed to ensuring that the DDI message, on all platforms and forms, is clear, consistent, and focused on messages about diversity, inclusion, equity, and YOU.
Look for increased identification and recruitment of Black and minority Precinct Committee Officers to ensure that the Democratic Party is truly reflective of the communities it serves.
Look for more and enhanced training programs to support PCOs committed to diversity and inclusion. It is our goal to provide them the tools and resources to help them increase and strengthen their voice as they work on issues around diversity, inclusion and equity in their communities and within the Party.
Look for community engagement programs that will encompass the total community to make sure all voices are heard and that all issues expressed. It is our goal to find the commonality of interests around the issues and to work together to address those through coordinated efforts by all communities committed to the core principles of diversity, inclusion, and equity.
Look for targeted activities to increase black and minority students in the political process. This begins with supporting and coordinating activities led by students to increase student voter registration, continues with civic education, engagement, and empowerment. It is our mission to support young people and encourage their participation in the political process and the Democratic Party.
Ultimately, all these efforts will lead to more and varied voices of all ages, races, colors, creeds, abilities, and genders working together to fight for increased diversity and inclusion as we all strive for equity and freedom.
DDI will strive diligently and purposefully to achieve this goal until, as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “With this faith we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, free at last, free at last, thank God almighty we are free at last.”
With the support and commitment of YOU, as members of DDI, we will be able to achieve this and more in the coming months and years. Join today. There is no time but NOW. The mission is mighty but with DDI Members united to win this struggle we will prevail,” Clarence Gunn concluded.
Special Thanks to Ms. Yvonne Brandon, DDI’s 3rd VP of Communications, and a team of committed members for making these coordinated communications systems upgrades and enhancements happen. Members make things happen!!!
